BPL Gifts Food, Clothing and Cash Donations to BASH and Great Commission Ministries This Thanksgiving
Nassau, Bahamas — Bahamas Power and Light Company Ltd. (BPL) wrapped up the Thanksgiving season through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme with donations to the Bahamas Association for Social Health (BASH) and Great Commission Ministries, delivering more than 450 non-perishable food items, approximately 130 clothing items, and a $1,000 financial contribution to support vulnerable communities; BASH received 225 food items, 129 clothing items and the cash donation, while Great Commission Ministries received 225 non-perishable food items.
Theodore Sealy, BPL Director of Communications, said the initiative underscores BPL’s commitment to empowering organizations that strengthen society. “BASH has been transforming lives since 1991,” Sealy said. “You [BASH] do more than offer shelter; you restore dignity and rebuild men’s lives. At BPL, we power communities through electricity, but BASH empowers individuals to become productive citizens again.”
Sealy also reflected on a personal connection to BASH. “As a child, I remember visiting these grounds with my parents and bringing clothing whenever we could. Supporting BASH during Men’s Health Awareness Month was an easy decision,” he said. “We are proud to stand with you.”
Director of Energy Supply, Jeff Davis, encouraged BASH to continue to be a beacon of hope in the community. “We thank you for all of the positive impact you’ve made in our society throughout the years. We will continue to partner with you as you carry out this great work.”
Terry Miller, founder of BASH, expressed gratitude for being selected as a recipient. “We are grateful that BPL chose us,” Miller said. “You came to us without us asking, and that matters. Civil society organizations play a critical role in this country, and your support affirms the impact of that work. On behalf of our board and our fundraising committee, thank you.”

Great Commission Ministries also received a significant food donation to support its daily feeding programmes. Dr. Tamalia Gibson, Executive Director of Great Commission Ministries, thanked BPL for its support of the ministry’s mission.
“Your generosity allows us to continue feeding families every day and providing hot, nutritious meals to up to 600 people in our community,” Gibson said. “We are grateful to BPL for standing with us and helping us to reach those in need.”
In presenting the donation, Sealy highlighted the critical role BPL’s employees played in the initiative.“This effort came from our Headquarters and the Clifton Pier and Baillou Hills Power Plants,” he said. “Our employees wanted to do something meaningful. This donation represents their heart.”
BPL also announced continued support for Great Commission Ministries’ Hope Fest on December 6, further reinforcing its commitment to community partnership.
Beyond Thanksgiving outreach, BPL continued its community engagement throughout November through various initiatives. The company provided financial support to the D.W. Davis Junior Girls’ Basketball Team for travel to Exuma, sponsored the Bahamas Half Marathon as a silver sponsor, donated to the Bahamas Museum of History and Natural Science, supported the Bahamas Red Cross Grand Raffle, commemorated the BACO 50th Anniversary through advertising support, and participated in The Bahamas AIDS Foundation’s Red Ribbon Ball.
“These initiatives reflect BPL’s dedication to building stronger communities,” Sealy added. “Real power goes beyond electricity. It is measured by the impact we make on people’s lives.”
