Bahamas Power and Light Donates to Us Too Men’s Cancer Support Group in Support of Prostate Cancer Awareness

Bahamas Power and Light Company Ltd. (BPL) has donated $1,000 to the Us Too Men’s Cancer Support Group as part of its September Corporate Social Responsibility initiative focused on Prostate Cancer Awareness.
COO Anthony Christie noted the importance of men’s health awareness within BPL’s workforce, where over 70% of employees are men engaged in high-risk technical fields. He encouraged regular screenings and education to reduce risk and save lives.
“With more than 70 percent of our workforce made up of men, this issue is close to home for us. Our men shoulder great responsibility — not only in their families but also in the demanding and sometimes risky work they do at BPL.”
Valentine Maura, accepting on behalf of Us Too, expressed gratitude for BPL’s support in expanding screening initiatives that help hundreds of Bahamian men each year. The donation also aligns with BPL’s recent launch of a Wellness Centre and in-house nurse program to promote preventive care for employees.
BPL reiterates its commitment to community well-being and awareness efforts that extend beyond powering homes to powering lives across The Bahamas.
