BPL Warns Consumers of Phishing Scheme Circulating on Social Media

Nassau, The Bahamas — Bahamas Power and Light Company Ltd. (BPL) is aware of a phishing scheme circulating on social media that purports to offer consumers discounts on their electricity bills.

BPL advises its consumers to exercise caution when encountering social media posts, messages, links, or other online communications claiming to offer discounts or special reductions on their electricity bills. Consumers should avoid clicking suspicious links or providing personal, account, or payment information through unverified sources.

BPL encourages consumers to keep their accounts up to date using one of the company’s authorized payment methods, including BPL’s official website at bplco.com, in person with a cashier or at the kiosk at the Peter I. Bethel building on Blue Hill Road and Tucker Road, or any of our pay stations across the family islands, participating bank branches, Cash N’ Go, and SunCash.
