FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 25, 2025

Nassau, New Providence — Bahamas Power and Light Company Ltd. (BPL) recognises the considerable inconvenience caused by the prolonged interruption of electricity supply to Little Grand Cay and thanks residents and businesses for their continued patience.

BPL understands the importance of a reliable electricity supply to the daily lives and operations of its customers. The Company’s immediate priority is to restore and stabilise service safely while keeping the community informed of confirmed developments.

A replacement generation unit is currently en route to Little Grand Cay and is expected to arrive on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, based on the confirmed transportation arrangements. Following its arrival, BPL’s technical teams will complete the installation, testing, and commissioning necessary to place the unit into service.

Updates will be provided as key milestones are confirmed, including the unit’s arrival, completion of installation and testing, and the restoration and stabilisation of the electricity supply. BPL is committed to providing information based on verified progress throughout the restoration process.

Over the past two years, BPL has been developing a long-term generation plan for Little Grand Cay to provide increased capacity, appropriate backup generation and greater security of supply. That plan has now advanced to the project-development stage, and BPL is preparing for its execution over the coming months.

The Company is currently evaluating and narrowing its selection of vendors, with particular attention to technical requirements, reliability and equipment delivery times. The objective is to implement a generation configuration that reduces the likelihood that the unavailability of a single unit will result in an extended interruption affecting the entire community.

BPL will provide the Little Grand Cay community with further information on the project and its implementation schedule once the vendor selection and related commercial arrangements have been finalised.

BPL also recognises that customers may have concerns about losses or electrical damage associated with the outage. Once the electricity supply has been restored and stabilised, a customer assistance team will visit Little Grand Cay to provide guidance on BPL’s established damage-claim process.

Customers who intend to submit a claim are encouraged to retain relevant photographs, receipts, invoices, repair reports and other supporting documentation. The customer assistance team will help residents understand the requirements and ensure that submitted claims are properly received and reviewed in accordance with the established process.

BPL remains focused on restoring electricity safely, supporting affected customers and advancing the long-term project to strengthen the reliability of the generation system serving Little Grand Cay. The Company will continue to engage with the community and provide updates as this work progresses.
